Tired heads
This series of works portrays the universal human weariness with ourselves. It is a kind of Brownian motion that primarily brings suffering, ultimately devoid of any meaning other than filling the void between birth and death. These “Tired heads” reveal the artist’s perspective on humanity’s nauseating cruelty and folly, as well as its pitiful helplessness before itself and death. Through these portraits, the artist invites us to look inward—not to expose the so-called “banality of evil,” which has become just another ideological buzzword, but rather to confront the miserable banality of all that is human. Years go by, but nothing fundamentally changes. Technology and technological progress offer nothing but a greater efficiency of all that humans have always been, highlighting above all their destructive side, behind which stand not some “formidable titans,” but generations of flies succeeding one another by sitting on a cow's head with sugar and water, as in Damien Hirst’s A Thousand Years (1990). Thousands of generations replace one another over millennia, if only to make yet another round or die out completely, leaving nothing behind but bones where once were meat and sweets.
Shortness of breath on their faces, muscle weakness, the smell of smoke, and skin drained of blood flow. They are tired in completely different ways, but united in their mortal or still breathing fatigue, in their directionless melancholy. Time does not allow them to go back, but on the contrary carries them forward into an indifferent and stifling future. Their graceful heads will remain a reminder that everyone will forget.
